This was a fun project I made for my Grandson Mike on
his 4th birthday. I know he'll love to hang his glove on this! |

I needed to find a way to mount a round bat to this coat
rack. I was a little nervous about pushing it thru my tablesaw. Then i
looked at my jointer, and thought once the knives created a flat spot on
the bat, that should steady it enough to finish the pass. It did. Be sure
to use a push stick to protect your fingers. I removed only 1/32" at a
time and was very careful at the end of each pass to prevent chip out.
The flat spot is about 1 3/8" at the widest part of the bat. |
Please note: the guard is held open with a clamp only so
I can take the picture. Never do this while the jointer is running!

I made a pair of key hole slots to hang the coat rack
from. They're spaced 16" apart to land on wall studs. To see how to make
these, click
