This box came from nessesity, I have 3 sizes of Mortise chisels that i use fairly regularly. Till now they were stored in the little cardboard boxes they came home in. My box holds them seculy and protects the cutting edge. It's made from 3/4" scrap poplar resawed and milled to 1/4" the box is 10-3/4" long, 4-7/8 wide and 2-5/8" tall including the top and bottom. The holes for the chisel supports were drilled to fit each cutter then split in half and glued into the top and bottom. I also glued felt to the drill end supports, and filled the end voids with some foam pads cut to fit. The box dosen't need to be fancy, since it will probably never leave the shop, still i finished with 3 coats of Watco oil. The oil really brings out the grain! The box joints used on the corners were made with the box joint jig found in WOOD Magazine
