Well I guess it was time for me to get with the times and try out one of them fancy biscuit joiners. After comparing different models and much reading, I chose the Porter Cable 557 type2. At left is the first joint I attempted.....wonderful! I was surprised how much side to side strenght there was, even before gluing it up! | ||

After cutting the slots in the table top and the side
braces, nail thru the braces into the mirror frame. Then use a bar clamp
to hold the back of the braces tight and use hand clamps on the front.

I think this looks pretty good. The plans include two changes: first the table legs are an inch longer, and second the rails on the bench are an inch narrower. Remember you can easily change the height by changing the leg lenghts of either the table or bench. | ||

I giving my vanities two coats of primer and at least two coats of an oil based white semi gloss paint. Lots of protection for many years of playin dress up! | ||

Patty added "rub on decals" butterflies to the left one
and daiseys made with a hard foam stamp with paint on it. Arianna like
butterflies and Gabby like dasieys.
