First I want to thank all the folks who emailed me for there interest and support! I need all I can get!
Last week I got the staircase up and rolling. I needed to lengthen the base at the arrow just like the handle earlier.

The 6 pages of plans were a great aid however I found that much improvising is necessary to to get from point "A" to point "B"! My parimeter gutter was too low so I had to change the entrance to the staircase.

The upper track is the end of the parameter gutter.I needed to remove stock "gracefully" so the marbles could get to the staircase. I used a 3/4" drum sander in my elec. drill and worked very slowly! The fix came out ok. I also changed the entrance to the stairs, attaching it with dowels at both ends.

I still need to add little walnut blocks for the guide dowels to fit into. But first I want to improve the way the xylophone keys are attached. Now they rest on felt with a brass screw. I'm going to add a short piece of black plastic tubing around the screw to keep the keys from moving around too much.

I finally found a way to get the tower to look straight: I just stick it thru the scanner cock-eyed! LOL!
The grand kids were over for dinner last nite and I invited them down to get a sneak peek of the tower. What a hit! The machine performed perfectly and survived little hands tuggin and pullin! It was a very good feeling!
Three major steps are left: the funnel, the winding path, and the little flip- flop device at the bottom. So long as I can keep whats left of my sanity!
